The King Institute at Stanford is hosting a conference from Oct 11-13. It will be in commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birthday and titled "The Uplift of All: Gandhi, King, and the Global Struggle for Freedom and Justice." The conference will feature voices such as Ela and Rajmohan Gandhi -- grandchildren of Mahatma Gandhi. Registration is required, but is free for students. For more information and to register, visit the link on the screen. [] A band of Paly teachers, Willy and the Four Boys, will perform this Friday, October 4th at an all ages show. The show starts at 6 at Devil's Canyon in San Carlos. The Silicon Valley Jewish Film Festival is looking for students interested in film and storytelling to volunteer as Ushers during the Festival in Palo Alto. Palo Alto's Teen Arts Council is looking for artists to collaborate on an installation for the Momentum Art Gallery around the theme of "why art matters to you". Writers, photographers, filmmakers, and visual artists in all mediums are welcome to contribute. If interested, email by the end of today with some samples of your work. The national Deej Inclusion Tour is hosting a viewing of the award-winning documentary, DEEJ, about autism and inclusion. As part of the tour, there will be a screening of Deej at Paly's Haymarket theatre next Thursday, October 10th at 6:30 PM for all community members, as well as an exclusive 4 PM showing for PAUSD educators. The events are free and open to the public. There are a lot of colleges coming to campus before our next show. Remember, to attend a visit, students must get a pass from the college and career center and have it signed in advance by their teacher. UCLA will be at Paly at 8:20 tomorrow morning, Yale University will visit at 9:05, Stony Brook University, State University of New York will be here at 10:05, and California College of the Arts will visit at 12:15. On Friday, the visits will include Case Western Reserve University at 8:20, Marquette University at 9:05, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology at 10:05.
